MISSION: Community Bike Project of Omaha directly connects Omahans in need with bicycles to own, the space and tools to maintain their bikes, and the skills and knowledge to independently repair and safely ride their bikes.

VISION: We desire an Omaha that’s equitable, sustainable, healthy, safe, and joyful–a city in which all residents experience a high quality of life and a thriving sense of personal agency–resulting from universal access to bicycle ridership. In our vision of a bike-full Omaha, bicycles serve as a leading mode of everyday transportation, a primary recreation choice, and a clearly identified source of community-building.

VALUES: Communal Responsibility, Re-purpose & Re-distribute, Learn by Doing, and Equity & Accessibility.

HISTORY: The Community Bike Project of Omaha is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2007 by volunteers and activists as an open shop space where folks could come and work on their bike for free. What started as a volunteer-run transportation equity initiative, is now a staff-run and volunteer-supported nonprofit bike shop and trusted community space, open year-round. The Community Bike Project of Omaha offers use of tools, space, and resources to maintain bikes, training in bike safety and repair, and–most importantly–low to no cost refurbished bicycles to Omahans of all ages.
