Why Support Bike Walk Nebraska?

Bike Walk Nebraska is the only statewide active transportation alliance working across sectors in support of sound policy, best practice design, and robust community education.

We envision a future where Nebraskans can stay safe while walking and biking, whether for recreation or transportation.

Our vision has always been to make enjoyable, accessible and safe modes of mobility a part of The Good Life, and we need your support to get there. Here's what your donations support:

Expanding Learn to Ride Programming

The joy of the first pedal stroke, whether riding for the first or thousandth time when your foot hits the pedal and you begin to move, is a moment of bike joy. Bike Walk Nebraska's sought-after and free Learn-to-Ride program for adults and older teens is expanding into several Nebraska communities in 2024.

Advancing Sound Local and State Policy

Policy wins are where the most impactful, long-lasting systemic change happens. Over the years, Bike Walk Nebraska has:

  •  Established equal rights for bicyclists within crosswalks
  • Negotiated with AAA to provide roadside bike assistance
  • Classified e-bikes to support access
  • Successfully advocated for the first-ever inclusion of walkers and cyclists in the statewide safety plan

Supporting Vibrant Active Tourism

Nebraska’s Cowboy Trail is a great recreational asset in addition to being part of the bigger Great American Rail Trail. With almost 200 miles of this iconic trail completed, our goal is to continue supporting expansion and maintenance efforts and help trail-side communities maximize the potential. The trail’s completion could contribute millions of dollars to their local economy, promoting tourism and outdoor recreation.
