The Bike Collab is a newly launched organization centered around afterschool and community bike programming exploring the intersections of learning new skills, the power of play, exposure to the outdoors, and celebrating community through the lens of mindfulness. We believe that bicycles can be a vessel to quieting the mind, physical activity, and play, but also a connector to community and a canvas for self expression.

We coach basic bike skills (even if you've never seen a bike before!) all the way to advanced mountain bike coaching and guided trail rides. Our approach is immersed in mindfulness - not just on the bike, but in daily life for children, young adults, families, and communities. Our curriculum helps participants ground themselves to the moment, set intention based on self-awareness, choose their destination, and harness kinetic movement to get there.

Bike Collab encourages participants to aim for big goals. Taking something from the unknown to the known is a powerful process for every human. It takes vulnerability, a learner's mindset, dedication, and self-compassion to learn a new skill or take on a challenge you never thought possible. On the bike, that challenge may be mileage, or a log in your way on the trail. What we learn in these situations on the bike build skills that go far beyond the trail. Maybe that becomes school attendance or grades, maybe that means making a new fried, facing fears, or not listening to those saying, "you can't do it".

Mind-body connection is key across so many life domains, and something our modern world has the potential to distract us from. Bicycles are a physical tool that is incredibly effective in attenuating the noise of life - our thoughts, that chore we forgot to do, those things we wish to heal in ourselves and others. Once someone gets on a bike, it's hands on the handlebars, eyes forward. The human body simply must pay attention to stay balanced and in motion. That's where the magic of bikes and mindfulness occurs. Kids don't have to be told it, through a bike and specific training, they can feel it first, and then build language around their own mindful approach.

There's something about bikes with balance and attention, but also movement through time and space. We teach our students these aspects with the physical tool called the bicycle, but how this same philosophy applies to taking a mindful approach to life. We use our senses to pay attention, that attention helps us find a balance, and we take that grounded sense of self with us in everyday life. For our students, that's in the classroom, with their educators, and peers. For adults, that can be a sense of confidence, utility, and community.

Thank you for visiting Bike Collab's profile page to learn a bit more about what we do. We are overjoyed to be part of Bike Walk Give and incredibly grateful for your support. We simply cannot do this alone - as people, as organizations, or the community at-large. Thank you for being part of this community and part of increasing well-being for so many people in a multitude of ways, all centered around the beauty of bicycling.
